  3. Introduction to Jewish Genealogy

    Researching Jewish ancestry can be a complex endeavor. You may be able to find something quickly or you can search for years to find one piece of information requiring persistence, patience, networking and research knowledge. This program is presented by the Jewish Genealogical Society of Greater Boston. Our presenter will be Carol Clingan, a board member of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Greater Boston. She has traced each of her grandparents’ families back to the early 19th century in the Former Soviet Union, and has done extensive research for other relatives and friends. Carol is Vice President of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Greater Boston, and has been a member of the Board for 15 years. She is also a Vice President of Temple Beth Elohim in Wellesley, and is past President of Action for Post-Soviet Jewry. This program is free and open to the public.   7. Open Book Coffeehouse

    The Open Book Coffeehouse is a non-profit venue offering wide variety of acoustic music, including folk, singer / songwriter, jazz, blues, bluegrass, and a capela music since 2006. Enjoy the relaxing, warm atmosphere of friendly people, good music, hot coffee, and home-baked goodies. Performances are held (usually) the third Saturday of the month from September through June (except December). The doors open at 6:45 and the music begins promptly at 7:30. Enter by the "Special Events" door to the left of the columns, midway into the parking area. Seating at our concerts is first-come, first-served. The Community Room is accessible via elevator.

    Come sing and learn with Ms. Marsha at the library! Tot Time Sing n Learn is for toddlers nine months to three years old and their caregivers. Each month we play, sing, complete simple crafts, and have stories loosely based around a theme. We begin the session with a free play period that includes a variety of toys designed to engage your child. Each family leaves with information and ideas to extend the learning to home. This program offers parents the opportunity to meet other parents with children the same age. This is a drop in program however if you have questions contact the library.

  3. Magic Carpet Book Club: World Travelers Edition

    May 3, 2017, 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM @ Children's Story & Craft Room

    This year we will hop on our Magic Carpets and take a trip around the world! We learn how children live in other lands! Each month we will travel to a different continent and learn about the people and wonders of the land. We will meet children from all over the world and find out about their day. Using videos, books, and an awesome 3-D atlas we will travel the World. Each month we will compete a simple craft or play games from the places we visit. Children who have visited or have family in the countries we visit are encouraged to share their experiences. There will be artifacts from some of the countries we visit for children to explore. Each child will receive a “passport” and place a stamp form each country we visit. The children will be engaged in geography, science and social studies lessons. This program is for school age children in grades K-4.
