Canton Remembers Our Veterans - Photo Scanning Day

The Canton Public Library and the Canton Veterans Department have collaborated to honor local heroes by launching an online photo archive, collecting and cataloging images from Canton’s service families past and present.

We need your help and participation to make this happen.  Members who served in any branch of the armed services, who now or formerly lived in Canton or residents with close relatives whose service they wish to memorialize in this way are all encouraged to participate.  The archive will be made accessible on the Library’s website and ultimately become part of the Massachusetts Digital Commonwealth.

All you need to do is bring up to three photographs that are special to you. We will scan them and record information about the photograph. You are also welcome to bring memorabilia that we will digitally photograph.  Consider composing a short descriptive summary to accompany each photograph or item, including why it has special meaning to you. Or fill in the Service Member Information Sheet and Photograph & Item Information Sheet, print them out and bring them with you.

Photo Scanning Day  will be held on Saturday, October 21 from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM, in the Community Room of the Canton Public Library, located at 786 Washington Street.  Original photos will be immediately returned to you.  Digital copies will be available on line.  No appointment is necessary. Light refreshments will be served.
