Oral Interviews: Connect with the Living Past

oral-histories-logo.460.200.png

Interviewing relatives is an essential and rewarding part of uncovering your family’s history. In this talk, you’ll learn how to capture genealogical information and family stories by conducting oral interviews. The talk focuses on the lessons Lori Lyn Price learned through both successful and unsuccessful oral interviews with her grandfathers. Price provides pointers on interview etiquette and describes how to approach the person you wish to interview, determine which questions to ask, choose appropriate equipment, and transcribe the completed interview.

Price is a professional genealogical speaker. She has been working on her personal genealogy for over fifteen years. She holds a master’s degree in history and loves sharing her passion for social history and genealogy. This program is free and open to the public. Sponsored by the Friends of the Canton Public Library.
