Hadassah Sharon Chapter: An Evening with Esther Adler
Tuesday, February 20, 2018
Esther Adler based her new historical saga, Best Friends, on her own experiences during the Shoah. Adler was born in Breslau, Germany, in the 1920s. Her family, Orthodox Polish immigrants, helped found a Jewish day school to share their heritage and teach the Jewish students expelled from public schools by the Nazis.
When she was twelve, Adler joined the Jewish Theological Seminary and traveled to Palestine in 1939 as part of the Youth Aliyah. She lost touch with much of her family during the Holocaust.
After the war, Adler moved to the United States. She married her husband, Simon, and had three children. Adler graduated from the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York and worked for the Jewish National Fund. She has written numerous essays and poems about Jewish tradition and the Diaspora.
Adler now lives in Canton, Massachusetts, where she continues to educate others about Jewish culture. This program is free and open to the public. Books will be available for sale.
