Apply for a Passport

The Canton Public Library is an authorized Passport Acceptance Facility and accepts U.S. Passport applications by appointment.

Wednesdays 10:30-11:30, 2:00-3:30
Thursdays 2:00-3:30, 6:30-8:00
Fridays & Saturdays* 10:30-11:30, 2:00-4:30
These hours are subject to change without notice due to availability of passport agents.
*Saturdays hours limited in the summer

Minimum requirements for applying for a U.S. passport are:
DS-11 form filled out in black ink, SS# is required.
Proof of Citizenship (Original Birth Certificate, Certificate of Naturalization or a valid or expired Passport are the most common)
Proof of Identity (Valid In-state Driver's License or State ID or Student ID with a photo are the most common)
Passport photo (We can take pictures here for $10)

To obtain or renew a passport for a child under the age of 16, both birth (or adoptive) parents must be present (with their photo IDs) along with the child and have the child's  original birth certificate showing both parents' names.

Adults: $130.00 book, $30.00 card, both valid for 10 years
Children: $100 book, $15.00 card, both valid for 5 years
Expedite Fee: an additional $60.00 per application

The Department of State only accepts Checks or Money Orders.
An execution fee of $35.00 is payable to the library. We accept checks, money orders or cash. This fee is mandated by the Department of State and you will pay this fee wherever you go.

Expedited service:
5-7  weeks from application

Please inform us if you are traveling in less than 18 weeks so that we can inform you of options to expedite your application.

If you are traveling internationally in less than 5-7 weeks or need to obtain a foreign visa within 4 weeks, you must call 1-877-487-2778 within 2 weeks of your departure and schedule an appointment at a Passport Agency
You must provide proof of travel at your appointment at the Passport Agency.
